Fab5: Blog 1

Group Meeting: #1

DATE: 6/2/20 TIME: 10.30am-11.15am LOCATION: 2B025FR

Name of Members Attending: Habiba, Emili, Naoko, Jonathan, Oliver.

In this first meeting, we recapped the demands of the component by scanning through the Assignment Brief and our tutorial/lecture notes and PowerPoints. Together, we discussed how we should begin the marketing audit, and we informed each other the way in which we shall complete this for the travel and tourism sector, discussing the best academic sources e.g. Marketline to look for this information. In addition, on OneDrive, Naoko created a shared document that we agreed to all put down our PESTLE analyses and micro-analysis findings of our company on. This is in order to keep track in between our meetings of how much research we have all contributed and what else we might need to research. Pleased with the fact that we have already chosen a company and finalised which sector Britannia Hotels fits in with, excellent knowledge and awareness of which sources to look through for our micro/macro analysis, we are keen to finish at minimum the PESTLE analysis before our next meeting in order to give us time for our macro analysis, TOWS analysis and critical success factors.

Complete micro analysis of Britannia Hotels11/2/20Everyone

Date of Next Meeting: 10/2/20, at 12-1pm in the Library Group Zone.

Group Meeting #3

DATE OF MEETING: 21/2/20 TIME: 2.45PM – 4.15PM LOCATION: Library, Level 4

Members Attending: Habiba, Emili, Jonathan, Naoko.

Absent, without apologies: Oliver.

In this meeting, the four of us had been finishing our MACRO and MICRO findings, completing the references correctly and discussing who will be doing the final tasks next, as our time is limited and there are only four of us contributing out of the five members, meaning we have more pressure between us with the very close deadline. We decided to split the TOWS Analysis work between us to avoid any confusion on who will do certain parts of the remaining project tasks.

Group Meeting #2

DATE OF MEETING: 14/02/20 TIME: 11AM-12PM LOCATION: OneZone

Members Attending: Habiba, Emili, Naoko, Jonathan.

Absent with apologies: Oliver.

We were concerned we have not yet finished researching and listing the MICRO and MACRO findings that we initially planned on completing by 12 February – thus still some further research to undergo before we can move on to the TOWS analysis with an approaching 2-week deadline. Therefore, in order to not fall behind, we had used this meeting to search for academic sources and relevant Business models that we can link to the PESTLE factors. Some members were finding it difficult to research the UK hospitality/travel sector alone, therefore this meeting has helped them overcome this issue; it guided them on how to look for the quality, relevant information we are needing.

Prior to this meeting, we created a groupchat on Messenger to keep in contact and discuss any problems regarding meeting and the assignment.

We were unable to meet on our original date of 10 February due to Jonathan’s unexpected appointment thus we rescheduled immediately.

Before our next meeting, these are our aims:

Task:Deadline:Name of person(s) responsible:
Minimum of one ‘Legal’ and ‘Socio-cultural’ factor in macro findings.18/02/20Everyone
Completing the remaining micro findings.18/02/20Everyone

DATE OF NEXT MEETING: 19/02/20

We confirm this is a correct record of this meeting
